As well as supplying Man United with their corporate clothing and corporate workwear needs,  Corprotex have been working hard on their environmental credentials and policies and have achieved the "Gold Award in the Environmental Business Pledge." They have also received an award from Manchester United FC and Envirowise for "Excellence in environmental best practice." Following on from this, we have been working towards gaining the Environmental Management System IS0:14001 certification for which we will soon be audited for accreditation.

With regard to the "Environmental Business Pledge" award, please see below for the major points in achieving the award.

The top level award is for businesses that have gone through the awareness raising stage, taken action and have now formalised their environmental systems to demonstrate real results from their improvements. To earn Gold, your business will be undertaking at least four of the following and we are actually undertaking all but two of these;
 
Carbon Neutral - Provide evidence that your company is carbon neutral.
Renewable Energy - Install a microgeneration technology or an 'energy match' green energy tariff source.
Investment - Invest in equipment or technologies to significantly reduce your environmental impact.
Community - Proactive and regular involvement in community activities that improve the local environment.
Environmental Award - Attain a recognised environmental award for your organisation, such as a Queen's award or a North West Business Environment Award (external site).
Employee Training - Provide regular work based environmental training to employees.
Green Travel Plan - Implement a formal travel plan to reduce the environmental impact of your business.
Green Supply Chain and Sustainable Purchasing - Change purchasing patterns to procure environmentally sustainable products and favour environmentally responsible companies.
Environmental Management - Implement an environmental management system to ISO14001 or equivalent.
Green Roof - Install a green roof on your premises.
